The course attempts to equip the students with the knowledge of the various functional aspects involved in physical distribution of goods in international markets.

Strategic Logistics planning: important concepts-Cost trade off, Total cost concept, Total system concept.

Air transport-Air Authority of India, Air services in India, advantages and problems.

Ocean Transport: Significance, Types of ships, Liners, Tramps, advantages and problems.

Warehousing:

Concept, Functions, Warehousing in India, Warehousing Corporations.

Multi modalisation:

Concept, containerization- advantages, disadvantages, types of containers. Inter modalism and multi modalism.

Liner Freighting Practices :

Types of rates, Pricing Principles and Surcharges.

Tramp Chartering Practices :

Tramp Trade, Types of Chartering - Voyage, Time, Bareboat Charter, Charter party and its main clauses- voyage and time.

Marine Logistics:

Charter party, bill of lading, Difference between Charter Party and Bill of lading, Liabilities of a carrier by sea.
